Packaging turns gourmet meals into ‘fast food’
By Mark Huber / NBAA November 2005

Private Jet Gourmet is using proprietary packaging that speeds food preparation and allows meals to be shipped anywhere and stored compactly for up to a year.

Thanks to the packaging, meals can go from freezer to aircraft oven to table in less than 15 minutes.

The new company is headed by Miami caterer Alisa McGowan, a former Food Network host. McGowan is a graduate of Florida International University’s School of Hospitality and has run her own company, Catering by Alyse, since 1998. She calls her culinary style “ethnic eclectic,” which she said is characterized by “creating each dish with fresh, true-to-its-origins ingredients.”

Private Jet Gourmet offers a wide variety of entrees, side dishes and desserts. McGowan said the airborne cuisine “reflects a strong emphasis on European classics” and is prepared without “manufactured preservatives or additives.” Menu items include lemon chicken buerre blanc, cajun crabcakes, calypso pork loin, vegetable melange with barley, cauliflower mash and chocolate pear tart.

McGowan would not discuss specific prices, but she did say they were “competitive with existing private jet catering suppliers.” More information is available on the company’s Web site:
